The Wadden Sea - a sea of life!The Wadden Sea constitutes a unique area of the danish nature. Not only important for the danish wildlife but also the global wildlife. The Wadden Sea is one of the 10 most important wet land areas in the world. And in 2010 it was given the status as National Park of Denmark. The continuously pulse of the tidal water creates a dynamic landscape in a constant change. With a 1.7 meter tidal difference you surely can observe the ever changing sea just outside the doors of The Wadden Sea Centre. |

The immense nutritional resources of the Wadden sea are of paramount importance for millions of migrating birds crossing the sea on their way to either the northern breeding grounds og their southern overwintering sites. It is estimated that 10-12 million migrating bird passes through the Wadden Sea during their migration.

The undisturbed sandbanks of the Wadden Sea are the ideal habitat for one of the largest mammals in Denmark - the harbor seal. It is estimated that 3-4000 harbor seals lives in the danish Wadden Sea. The large population actually comprises almost one third of the entire danish population og harbor seals.
