We start at the Wadden Sea Center with a brief introduction to bird watching with binoculars. Then we walk together to the dike and the Wadden Sea, 700 meters away, to see if we can spot any birds. How many different species can you find? How can you correctly identify a bird, even when it is backlit? And what is typical of our wading birds? Back at the Wadden Sea Center, we will dissect a bird in one of our nature schools and discover the anatomical adaptations to life in the air.

During the Easter holidays in weeks 14 and 15, you can join us as we dive into the exciting world of the Wadden Sea in spring. After a long, dark winter, the first summer visitors return to the national park from the warm south on their way to the far north. Join us on exciting trips to the Wadden Sea and learn more about the Wadden Sea in spring.

Seal safari (in your own car)
At the Wadden Sea Centre, we start with an introduction about the seals and their exciting biology. You then drive, in your own cars, to Mandø.
From Mandø dike we walk approx. 2 km along the dyke and across the seabed to the seal bank, where "Jørgens Lo" - a water channel of approx. 300 meters wide - separates us from the seals. The seal bank is one of the largest breeding areas in the Wadden Sea National Park. Around 200 seals typically lie and rest here. The nature guide brings telescopes so that we can get "very close" to the seals, without disturbing them in their natural behavior. The most curious of the seals might come close, in the water right in front of us...
All participants must be able to walk at least 5 km without difficulty.
Sea Explorer
We will meet at the Wadden Sea Center, where we will have equipment bags ready for you. The expedition leader will guide you to the Wadden Sea National Park, where we will search for the strange creatures living in the mud and water of the Wadden Sea.
We will take some of our finds back to the Wadden Sea Center, where we can examine the creatures up close under a stereo microscope. Find out if you can become a real SEA EXPLORER!
When you have finished exploring the exciting wildlife of the Wadden Sea, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Wadden Sea Center's exhibition “Trækfuglenes Vadehav” (The Wadden Sea of Migratory Birds), which looks at the Wadden Sea from the perspective of migratory birds.
