From Mandø dike we walk about 2 km out over the seabed to the seal bank, where "Jørgens Lo" - a water channel about 300 meters wide - separates us from the seal sandbank. The seal bank is one of the largest breeding banks in the Wadden Sea National Park. The nature guide brings telescopes so that we can get "very close" to the seals, without disturbing them in their natural behavior. The most curious of the seals may come close, in the water right in front of us...
All participants must be able to walk at least 4 km without difficulty.
As part of the #vabene project, interested children can be trained as seal helpers during the tour by the nature guide. This activity is included in the ticket price. Trained seal helpers receive a certificate at the end of the tour, which they can take home along with a small information booklet.
